Skamania County Bigfoot: What You Need to Know

Is the Skamania County Bigfoot fact or fiction? That’s for you to decide. Legend has it that this famous creature has been spotted multiple times around Carson Ridge Luxury Cabins. While you’re out and about, keep your eyes open. You never know what you’ll see!

What Is the Skamania County Bigfoot?

The Skamania County Bigfoot is known by many names. You may have heard of him as the Sasquatch, Yeti, or one of the many other nicknames he has earned over the years. Legend has it that there is a giant ape-like creature roaming the forest. There have been countless sightings in the Columbia River Gorge area, but no one has found physical proof yet. Maybe you could be the one to find him once and for all.

Bigfoot’s History in the Skamania County

In the 1960s, it seemed as if everyone had gotten a glimpse of the elusive Sasquatch. So many people saw this creature that it became illegal to harm one! Bigfoot enthusiasts began hunting the Sasquatch, and it became very dangerous for other hunters to be roaming the forest. Today, the law has been changed so that it is still illegal to harm one of these creatures, but you will only get a maximum of one year in jail or a $1000 fine.

Where to See Bigfoot

Bigfoot has been spotted across Skamania County. Bring your camera and enjoy some hiking, but keep an eye out. You never know what might be lurking in the shadows.

Cape Horn

The Cape Horn Trail is known for its incredible views of the Columbia River Gorge. The entire loop is 7.1 miles, so you have more than enough time to hopefully see Bigfoot. If you don’t, you’ll be more than happy with the stunning views. The Nancy Russell Overlook treats visitors to see some of the best landscapes in the area.

Beacon Rock State Park

There were three reports of the Skamania County Bigfoot at the Beacon Rock State Park during the summer of 1970. Even though the 70s were a few decades ago, you never know when the Yeti will be back. One report was of a creature in a cave, another of large footprints, and another detailed description by a woman changing her tire. Plus, Beacon Rock has stunning panoramic views when you climb to the top.

Gifford Pinchot National Forest

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest is exactly what comes to mind when we think of Bigfoot’s home. Towering trees, deep caves, and majestic mountains dot the landscape. The first documented Sasquatch appearance here dates all the way back to the 1850s.
